Picture a year imagining your child as an artist!
After School Arts introduces 1st-5th graders to a diverse art curriculum over 3 Units that meet once a week for three weeks. Students create through fabric, painting, clay, printmaking, mixed media, photography, and more. Lessons emphasize critical thinking skills, open-ended solutions, and creativity.
Students are provided with a healthy snack. Movement and music are incorporated into the curriculum.
When: Wednesdays, 3:45 - 5:45 pm
Location: North Parlor and Art Ed. Room

Unit D: "Clay: Soft, Squishy, Smoth" - January 11 - 18 - 25
Can one art material be all these things? Find out while creating a hanging plant basket, a fish, masks, and two plaques!
Unit E: "Scrap Sculptures: Building in 3 Dimensions" - February 22 - March 1 - 8
Assemble sculpture and connect art materials sucha s woods, straws, found materials, rocks, wire, wood cutouts, and more. Your 12" high sculpture masterpiece will be inspirational and original!
Unit F: "Photography" - March 22 - 29 and April 5
Each participant is issued an OCAC camera to use for 3 weeks. Nature walks explore unusual things to photograph while learning how to compost a picture and celebrate nature, people, and more.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Scholarship opportunities are available to give residents of all ages the opportunity to participate in programs at the Oxford Community Arts Center. Under the program, 50% matching scholarships are available through a generous grant from the Kiwanis Club of Oxford.
