Choose your own sewing adventure!

Do you like to experiment when you make art? Do you enjoy the mystery of making, not knowing exactly how it will all turn out? This sewing class is perfect for those who would like to follow their instincts and explore their ideas with a seasoned guide to help them along. Start the week with improvisational sewing, making a larger piece of fabric by collaging smaller bits together. It can be turned into a bag, pillow top, something wearable, or wall art to decorate your room. We’ll continue the week with each student designing and creating a project of their choice using the materials that we have on hand in the studio or what they bring from home. Students will learn how to plan a project and how to select proper materials and construction methods to achieve their goal.

This is a beginner-friendly class. Prior knowledge of using a sewing machine is a bonus but not required. 
All basic sewing and sewing machine supplies provided. OCAC camp t-shirt included.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Scholarship opportunities are available to give residents of all ages the opportunity to participate in programs at the Oxford Community Arts Center. Under the program, up to 50% matching scholarships are available through a generous grant from the Kiwanis Club of Oxford.
