Scarecrow Making Workshop - Spring I
Fri, Feb 13, 2026, 6:00 – 8:00 PM EST
Art Ed. Room
AGES: 6-13
Kids work with teaching artist Libby Birch with assistance from Debra Bowles and Caroline Lehman-Croswell to design and build a small scarecrow or a key scarecrow element (face, hat, hands, or signage) for the community garden. Using recycled fabrics, buttons, natural materials, and craft supplies, each child will imagine a personality and purpose for their scarecrow character while learning why scarecrows are used to protect crops. Finished pieces may be combined into a larger collaborative scarecrow for installation in the garden later in the season.
Culture Crops Activity: Community Photo – participants and their scarecrows will be photographed to celebrate the project and document this stage of the garden’s story.
When: Second Friday, February 13th from 6-8 PM
Location: Art Ed. Room
Min: 4 / Max: 8
