Picture a year imagining your child as an artist!

After School Arts introduces 1st-5th graders to a diverse art curriculum over 3 Units that meet once a week for three weeks. Students create through fabric, painting, clay, printmaking, mixed media, photography, and more. Lessons emphasize critical thinking skills, open-ended solutions, and creativity.

Students are provided with a healthy snack. Movement and music are incorporated into the curriculum.

Unit A: "Mastering and Making a Mosaic" - October 5 - 12 - 19
Make three mosaics using glass, styrofoam, and paper - a piece at a time!

Unit B: "Textile Art" - November 2 - 9 - 16
Smile while learning the art of fabrics, yarns, and more. Find your creative expressions using paper and a loom. Make a bowl using just yarn! Let your creative side shine!

Unit C: "Express Your Creativity" - November 30 - December 7 - 14
Paper Mache? Clay? Paper? Can an artist use these three materials to make masks? YES! Learn about mask from aroudn the world; Africa, Indonesia, Japan and Mexico.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Scholarship opportunities are available to give residents of all ages the opportunity to participate in programs at the Oxford Community Arts Center. Under the program, 50% matching scholarships are available through a generous grant from the Kiwanis Club of Oxford.
